KT Corp., a leading telecommunications company in South Korea, has announced a strategic partnership with Palantir Technologies, a prominent U.S.-based AI platform company, to enhance its AI business. This collaboration, revealed on March 12 (local time), aims to accelerate KT’s AI transformation (AX) business in the United States, marking a significant step in KT’s strategic shift towards AI and digital transformation.

The partnership was formalized by Kim Young-seob, CEO of KT, and Alex Karp, CEO of Palantir, who both expressed optimism about the collaboration. Kim stated, “I am confident that the strategic partnership between Palantir, with its unique technological prowess and differentiated solutions, and KT, with its rich consulting capabilities and know-how, will be a ‘win-win’ for both companies.” He further emphasized the potential for KT to become a Korean AX accelerator with overwhelming competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.

Palantir, known for its data analytics platforms used by government agencies, including the U.S. Department of Defense, will provide essential technical infrastructure to support major Korean companies through this partnership. Karp expressed pride in this collaboration, stating, “Palantir and KT will together accelerate the innovation of our partners in Korea.”

KT’s partnership with Palantir follows its strategic alliance with Microsoft last October, which involved a 2.4 trillion won investment over five years to jointly develop a secure public cloud (SPC) and a Korean AI model. This previous collaboration with Microsoft highlights KT’s commitment to leveraging global expertise in AI and cloud computing services.

Through the partnership with Palantir, KT plans to strengthen its solution business that aids corporate AX and has become the first Korean company to join Palantir’s “Worldwide Partner Ecosystem” as an official member. The collaboration will focus on developing the SPC, integrating Palantir’s security technology to address areas where security and regulatory compliance are crucial, such as finance. Additionally, KT plans to introduce Palantir’s software internally and collaborate on a Korean AI platform education program, the AIP Bootcamp, which was conducted 1,300 times in the United States last year.

The AIP Bootcamp is a hands-on prototype implementation program for companies, contributing to the expansion of Palantir’s clientele. This educational initiative underscores the importance of building a skilled workforce capable of implementing AI solutions, aligning with KT’s strategic goals.

As KT continues to forge alliances with international companies like Palantir and Microsoft, it positions itself to enhance its technological capabilities and market reach in the competitive landscape of AI and cloud computing. The integration of Palantir’s security technology into KT’s solutions highlights the growing importance of secure data management in the digital era, particularly in sectors like finance where data security and regulatory compliance are critical.
