KT announced on the 29th that it will reorganize and appoint executives to become a so-called “AICT Company” that combines communication technology with information technology (IT) and artificial intelligence (AI). Seven executives from KT and group companies were promoted from managing director to managing director and 29 from managing director to managing director.
In this reorganization, KT changed its organizational system under the goal of transforming its business structure into an AICT company to strengthen its growth foundation and continue innovation performance. First, the B2B organization will be integrated into one. The enterprise division, which was in charge of the B2B business, will be combined with the strategic and new business division, which was in charge of the AI convergence business. The newly operated enterprise sector helps companies innovate their work by adding business capabilities in new business areas such as AI, cloud, and platform. Ahn Chang-yong, vice president of the Enterprise Division, decided to continue leading the organization.

In order to gather and oversee business capabilities in the media sector, the media platform business division, which was under the existing customer division, will be separated and a media division will be established. The media sector will serve as a control tower for media businesses such as KT SkyLife, KT Studio Genie, and Genie Music along with IPTV, one of KT’s core businesses. Executive Director Kim Chae-hee, who oversaw the group’s management strategy and business discovery while serving as the head of the strategic planning office, was appointed as the head of the media division.
KT Consulting Group under the technology innovation sector will expand and reorganize into the ‘strategic and business consulting sector’ and strengthen the technology consulting functions necessary to expand the AICT business. The new strategic and business consulting division will be established with three organizations: GTM headquarters, which will support the discovery, proposal, and implementation of artificial intelligence strategic projects, TMO headquarters, which will be in charge of implementing next-generation IT projects, and SPA headquarters, which will strengthen partnerships with domestic and foreign tech companies, including strategic cooperation with Microsoft (MS). Jung Woo-jin, executive director of KT Consulting Group, will head the strategic and business consulting division.

In addition, KT continues to evolve its operating system to stabilize, secure, and upgrade its network as a key telecommunications service provider. KT Netcore and KTP&M, which specialize in network technology, are preparing to launch in January next year with more than 3,000 applicants flocking to recruit new and experienced workers. KT CEO Kim Young-seop said, “It is important to reasonably operate and innovate organizations and personnel in order to evolve and grow rapidly targeting companies with the best AICT capabilities,” adding, “In the future, KT will lead the B2B IT market through global cooperation, while doing more responsibility with KT Group executives and employees to become a company recognized by customers and the public through safe and stable operation and advancement of the network.”
