KT announced on Nov. 26 that it has signed a business agreement with DigitalBridge, a global digital infrastructure investment firm, regarding AI data center business to respond to the increasing demand for AI services.

The signing ceremony held at KT Gwanghwamun Building on the day was attended by executives from both companies, including KT’s Strategy and Business Consulting Division Head Jung Woo-jin and DigitalBridge Asia-Pacific Division Representative Ahn Tae-eun. Through this cooperation, both companies plan to prepare in advance for the expected surge in AI data center demand in the Asia-Pacific region with the goal of “establishing domestic AI data center infrastructure.”

DigitalBridge is a digital infrastructure investment specialist firm headquartered in the United States. It manages approximately $108 billion worth of assets and has collaborated with global telecommunications companies in North America and Europe in the network and IT infrastructure sectors. Recently, it has been expanding its business into the AI and cloud infrastructure sector by investing in hyperscale data center design companies and acquiring global data center operators.

Through this agreement, KT and DigitalBridge will pursue ▲joint development of domestic AI data center business ▲overseas data center business cooperation ▲data center ESG technology sharing.

Both companies will cooperate in the entire process from design to operation of domestic AI data centers. They also plan to jointly discuss ways to strengthen connectivity and stability between the existing data centers of both companies. Overseas, they will jointly conduct market research to identify AI data center business opportunities and explore opportunities for KT to participate in global AI data center projects promoted by DigitalBridge.

They will also closely cooperate in the data center ESG sector. DigitalBridge will share its data center ESG-related technology and operational experience with KT. Through this, KT plans to jointly review sustainable AI data center operations and capacity enhancement measures.

DigitalBridge Asia-Pacific Division Representative Ahn Tae-eun said, “In the AI era, AI data centers are becoming core infrastructure for national and corporate competitiveness,” adding, “This cooperation will be the first step in proactively responding to the AI demand of global tech companies in the Asia-Pacific region based on the data center business experience and capabilities possessed by both companies.”

KT Strategy and Business Consulting Division Head Jung Woo-jin said, “In a situation where AI utilization in industry and daily life is expanding, we are reviewing various response measures to secure stable and efficient AI data centers,” adding, “KT will actively explore global AI data center business opportunities, including domestic AI data centers, together with DigitalBridge, and provide optimal services that can meet the diverse demands of various customers in the future.”
