On Oct. 22, KT announced a collaboration with Thailand’s leading ICT company, Jasmine Group, to utilize KT’s “Mi:dm” super-scale AI for the construction of a Thai Large Language Model (LLM) and joint commercialization in Southeast Asia. This marks the first time a domestically produced super-scale AI has ventured overseas.

The collaboration encompasses the creation of a dedicated Thai LLM and its business model, establishing market analysis and marketing strategies for Southeast Asia, transferring LLM construction technology and expertise, and jointly setting up solutions to address AI regulations in the Southeast Asian market.

Specifically, KT will share the technical expertise required for LLM development, while Jasmine Group will focus on establishing a GPU Farm crucial for model development.

In the first half of next year, the two companies plan to establish a GPU Farm in a new IDC promoted by Jasmine Group’s wholly owned subsidiary, Jastel Co. Ltd. Following this, the construction of the Thai-specific LLM will commence in the second half. Based on the success in Thailand, the companies intend to further explore a global LLM business model and collaborate on ventures in other Southeast Asian markets, including Laos and Cambodia.

Chairman Pete Bodharamik of Jasmine Group stated, “This collaboration will serve as a significant milestone for the Jasmine Group’s ambition to lead Thailand’s AI industry. Based on KT’s technical expertise in AI and Jasmine Group’s understanding and foundation in the Southeast Asian business landscape, we aim to pioneer AI ventures in the global market of Southeast Asia.”

KT’s CEO Kim Young-sub commented, “We are pleased to cooperate with Jasmine Group on AI initiatives, drawing from our experience in establishing large-scale infrastructure like the GPU Farm and LLM development. Through this collaboration, we hope to contribute to enhancing Thailand’s AI industry competitiveness, and we anticipate successful joint ventures in the Southeast Asian AI market.”
