KT CEO Kim Young-seop met with the head of global artificial intelligence (AI) company Palantir to strengthen cooperation between the two companies. KT plans to significantly enhance its AI business competitiveness by expanding cooperation with overseas big tech companies, following Microsoft (MS).

KT announced that CEO Kim met with Alex Karp, CEO of Palantir, who visited Korea on Oct. 14, at the KT headquarters in Gwanghwamun, Seoul. The two discussed implementation strategies to spread Palantir technology, which has been introduced within KT, across Korean industries. This is the first time the two have met in Korea since establishing a strategic partnership in March this year.

KT plans to launch a business-to-business (B2B) service that will support Korean companies in using Palantir’s software smoothly. In particular, they are designing security-specialized services so that customers in the financial and public sectors, who mainly handle sensitive data, can use AI with confidence. The meeting is expected to accelerate the progress of related business initiatives.

Palantir provides a software platform that analyzes and visualizes vast amounts of data, helping companies easily understand complex data and make decisions. It is particularly noted as a tailored solution for the AI era. As a result, Palantir has supplied technology to the U.S. Department of Defense and joined the Standard & Poor’s (S&P) 500. KT has become the first Korean company to officially join Palantir’s “Worldwide Partner Ecosystem,” a network of business and technology expert partners. Through this, KT has first applied Palantir software to its internal systems, including the “Secure Public Cloud (SPC).”

KT also held the second “AX (AI Transformation) Leader Summit” to coincide with CEO Karp’s visit to Korea. Along with CEO Karp, Woo Kee-hong, vice chairman of Korean Air, Kim Yong-beom, vice chairman of Meritz Financial Group, Koo Ja-kyun, chairman of LS Electric, and Lee Ju-tae, CEO of POSCO Holdings, gathered to share AX response strategies for each industry. Additionally, Palantir is operating a pop-up store in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, to raise brand awareness in Korea, with KT supporting this effort.

CEO Kim said, “The cooperation between KT and Palantir will become a success case leading AX innovation in major industrial sectors in Korea,” adding, “We will support the spread of effective decision-making based on AI and data across various industrial areas.” CEO Karp stated, “This cooperation is a crucial advancement towards security-enhanced cloud-based data utilization and industry-specific innovation, and we will continue to strengthen our cooperation in the future.”
