Bridgeport property maintenance business celebrates 30 years | News, Sports, Jobs
BRIDGEPORT — George Kryston opened his parking lot sweeping business 30 years ago from his house in St. Clairsville but celebrated its anniversary in August after it grew into much more.
Property Maintenance Services Inc. is now located in Bridgeport at 54440 National Road.
George’s daughter, company Vice President Nikki Kryston, said her dad started the business from his house in St. Clairsville before moving to a small office down the street and then finally moving the business to Bridgeport several years ago.
What started as a parking lot sweeping business grew into a lawn care, landscaping fertilization, vegetation control, parking lot sweeping, industrial sweeping and snow removal business.
Nikki said the firm added all of the services, aside from parking lot sweeping, because of its customers’ trust. Once the business was able to add more services, it was also able to go from a couple employees to over 25 today.
“Our slogan is ‘Your property is our main concern,’” Kryston said. “And that’s always been something that my father has prided himself on is that every customer is not a customer, they’re family.”
Kryston said the biggest reason for the business’s success and ability to last 30 years is because it takes good care of customers. She said a lot of customers have been with the business for a long time, and customer care is the reason.
She emphasized that providing exceptional service and fulfilling customers’ needs successfully is very important. She said it’s always been “quality over quantity” for the business.
“Putting our customers first, making sure that our employees are safe, and also taking care of our employees, making them a part of our family,” she said. “That’s truly what we have prided ourselves on, is everybody, whether they’re an employee or a customer, being a part of our family.”
She said she and her staff try to give back to the community of Bridgeport as much as they can, whether that be for fundraisers, sporting events or organizations, such as United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley, by volunteering and helping in other ways.
Property Maintenance Services Inc. celebrated its 30th anniversary at the end of August with a large event involving 200 people at the shop, including employees and customers.
During the celebration, members displayed the business’s equipment. They used Mehlman’s Cafeteria for catering and local cookie shops for dessert. They also had music there for the celebration.
Property Maintenance Services Inc. serves not only Ohio but West Virginia and Pennsylvania as well.
“What I have enjoyed the most is getting to establish the same relationships with our customers now that my father did 30 years ago,” Kryston said. “That has been absolutely the most rewarding thing for myself and also to watch the growth of our employees.”
